This 5700 square foot jewel box will be nestled in the private community of the Santa Lucia Preserve, in Carmel Valley California. With its timeless design and perfect proportions, the house offers seamless integration with the natural beauty of the Carmel Valley landscape. The clients requested a warm, modern, friendly, and livable home. Classic materials of glass, concrete, wood and steel will be softened by luxurious rugs and fabrics. The color palette will reflect the changing colors of the site –warm golden tones of the summer hillside, soft hues of native wild flowers, and the rich browns of tree bark. Light filled spaces, outdoor living and a Zen rock garden give this house it’s joie de vivre.
Personal artistic sensibility will be featured throughout the home though the clients’ collection of Korean artwork and screens. For him, there is a dedicated space for his musical passion. For her, there is a dream kitchen.
Each of the four projects I have worked on in the Carmel Valley inspire me in different ways. As in all projects I enjoy the collaboration with the architect, contractor and landscape designer. With this project in particular I am excited by the sleek modern design, clean lines and the clients’ desire for a warm home to share with friends.
